Tsan Yuk Hospital was first established in 1922 by the London Missionary Society, providing maternity services to the community. It became a government hospital in 1934. Three years later, it became a teaching hospital of The University of Hong Kong, providing training for medical students; post-graduate training and research facilities for doctors; and obstetric training for student nurses. Its obstetric professional training was recognised by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. The Tsan Yuk Hospital at Hospital Road was opened in June 1955 and it had become a well-known maternity hospital providing high quality obstetric service and neonatal services.
The obstetric and newborn inpatient services of Tsan Yuk Hospital were relocated to Queen Mary Hospital in November 2001 with a view to enhancing the quality and cost effectiveness of the clinical services. The relocation has marked an important milestone for this famous maternity hospital. Furthermore, the Hospital also collaborates with the Maternal Child and Health Centres of Department of Health to provide shared antenatal care for low risk obstetric patients. Currently, Tsan Yuk Hospital has now been transformed into a day centre providing outpatient services.
Since May 2013, the Nurse and Allied Health Clinic has commenced its operation at Tsan Yuk Hospital. The Clinic is run by the Department of Family Medicine & Primary Healthcare under the Hong Kong West Cluster of Hospital Authority. Building on close collaborations with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, the Clinic offers comprehensive one-stop primary healthcare services in promoting residents living in the vicinity to practise healthy habits and lead a healthy lifestyle in achieving physical and psychological health under systematic provision of health advice.
The Risk Assessment and Management Clinic of Central and Western District (RAMP Clinic C&W District) is located at 5/F, Tsan Yuk Hospital and opened in April 2012. The clinic provides a systematic, comprehensive risk assessment and holistic care for patients through multidisciplinary approach. In collaboration with other disciplines, the RAMP Clinic offers an one-stop service for patients with diabetes and hypertension. The target to assist patients to keep their HbA1c, Blood Pressure, Cholesterol at optimal level while enjoying good quality of life.
