The main theme for the Hospital Authority Convention 2009 is 'Reconfiguration for sustainable healthcare'. The Convention aims to articulate the case that, in order to be sustainable, changes in the provision of health care in terms of service strategies, priorities, and models of care at multiple levels are inevitable.

The main theme is further supported by the following sub-themes:

The Hospital Authority Convention 2009 will have a panel of over 40 distinguished overseas and local speakers to share their views and interact with participants. There will be Plenary and Symposium sessions focusing on various aspects of the health system including discussions on innovative service models, performance monitoring and management skills, redefining the role of healthcare providers, healthcare standards and patient engagement initiatives will form the mainframe of the Convention. Apart from healthcare system and management issues, the Convention will also deliberate on topical issues, such as healthcare in China, disaster management and disease management as well as Masterclass sessions on traumatic care, blood transfusion and safety and cancer care services, etc.
