Convention Theme and Sub-themes

The main theme for the Hospital Authority Convention 2007 is 'Innovating for Health 創健利民'. The Convention aims at articulating the case that a health system needs to enhance innovations, improvements and modernization at multiple levels for it to become sustainable and capable of meeting challenges ahead.

The Hospital Authority Convention 2007 will have a panel of distinguished overseas and local speakers to share their views and interact with participants. Discussions on innovative service models, modernized healthcare management skills and redefining the competencies and future roles of the healthcare workforce will form the mainframe of the Convention with the Plenary and Symposium sessions focusing on various aspects of the health system including healthcare reform, service delivery, quality assurance, planning and development of the future health workforce, and involvement of and participation by patients and the general public. The Convention has the following sub-themes:

(d) Quality assurance and improved outcomes
(e) Community engagement in health

Apart from healthcare system and policy issues, the Convention will also deliberate on the following topical issues:

(d) Preparedness for 2008 Olympics
(e) Clinical innovations for health
(f) Training of healthcare professionals

Master-class sessions on clinical management will also be held to discuss the latest advances and innovative treatment models for trauma care, pain management, cancer care and palliative care.

About the Hospital Authority Convention

The Hospital Authority Convention is one of the largest healthcare conferences in the Asian Pacific region. It has gone from strength to strength since 1992 as an international forum in which healthcare professionals, managers and policy makers around the world share their knowledge and experience as well as the latest research findings.

Last year, the Convention was attended by over 2,800 clinicians and healthcare professionals, including health service executives and clinical staff, from China, Hong Kong and many other countries.
