Stepping towards a healthier society

Building strong connections between hospitals and the people they serve plays a vital role in achieving improved public health. Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) and North District Hospital (NDH) recently held charity walks with the aims of engaging with their local communities and promoting a healthy lifestyle while also raising money to support worthy causes.

In mid-January, QEH and Hong Kong Ling Liang Church Kindergarten jointly organised a charity walk at the Peak to raise funds for QEH Charitable Trust (photo below). Secretary for Food and Health Dr Ko Wing-man and Hospital Authority Chairman Professor John Leong attended the event as officiating guests and artists Karena Lam and Raymond Wong spoke about the importance and value of lending a ‘helping hand’ to those in need. There were also opportunities for the participants to learn more about healthcare issues such as organ donation.

NDH’s charity walk (photo on top) in December proved extremely popular among residents in Sheung Shui and Fanling, with around 1,000 people putting their best foot forward to raise funds for the hospital’s breast diagnostic and treatment services.醫院管理局
