Action Plan to submit in October
in response to HA Review Report
In mid-July, the Government released the Report of the Steering Committee on Review of Hospital Authority (the Report). Centering on an overall review of HA’s operations and service provision, the Report provides 10 recommendations as to how HA can further improve the quality and delivery of its medical care. HA Chairman Professor John Leong Chi-yan has welcomed the Report and is consulting the HA Board on moving forward with the recommendations by formulating appropriate strategies and action plans. The HA Board has set up a special taskforce and aimed to submit an overall action plan to the Government in October this year with a view to implementing the recommendations in three years.
The 100-plus pages Report addresses five areas concerning HA’s operation, namely ‘management and organisation structure’, ‘resource management’, ‘staff management’, ‘cost effectiveness and service management’ and ‘overall management and control’. Some of the Report’s recommendations are listed below. To consult the full Report, please go to http://www.fhb.gov.hk/en/committees/harsc/report.html.
