Key Personnel Appointments

 

Dr Lau Chor-chiu was appointed Cluster Chief Executive of Hong Kong East Cluster, and Hospital Chief Executive of Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital and Wong Chuk Hang Hospital.

With a background as an emergency physician, Dr Lau is instrumental in the development of emergency aeromedical patient transfers, and was one of the first senior Air Medical Officers in Hong Kong. Over the last 15 years, he was charged with hospital management responsibilities, leading strategic changes in the restructuring of quality and safety management, efficient hospital bed utilisation, filmless technology development and revamping the emergency response system. His selfless contribution to the community is exemplified by the effective coordination of overseas support teams in disaster management for the tourist coach accident in Taiwan (2004), South Asian tsunami in Thailand (2004), Sichuan earthquake (2008) and the Manila hostage incident (2010). Dr Lau's new position was effective from 1 May 2011.


 
 
   
       
 

Dr Lau Mun- cheung was appointed HCE of Cheshire Home, Shatin (SCH)

Dr Lau's new appointment was announced on March 24, 2011. He has a background in physiotherapy and was formerly the Cluster Coordinator (Physiotherapy and Volunteer Service, Rehab Shops & Health Resource Centre) in New Territories East Cluster. He is instrumental in the re-engineering and enhancement of allied health services in the cluster. Dr Lau also served as overall coordinator of physiotherapy for the Hospital Authority, in support of the 2008 Olympic and Paralympic Equestrian Events.

 



 
  Dr Ching Wai-kuen was appointed the Hospital Chief Executive of Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Fung Yiu King Hospital/MacLehose Medical Rehabilitation Centre/Duchess of Kent Children's Hospital
 
 

Dr Ching is currently responsible for policy and professional matters of the doctors' workforce. He has been instrumental in the settlement of doctors' litigation of work arrangements and the development of new career structures in recent years. He has also assisted the Chief Executive in handling the recent doctors' workload issue. He was seconded to the then Health and Welfare Bureau and the HCE Office of North District Hospital. His appointment was effective on 15 June 2011.
