HA pledges to provide a hygienic workplace

T he HA recently showed its determination to safeguard workplace hygiene by supporting the Workplace Hygiene Charter Against Influenza, which has been jointly organised by the Occupational Safety and Health Council and the Labour Department.

On 10 July, Mr David Rossiter, our Head of Human Resources, represented the HA at the Workplace Hygiene Charter Against Influenza Signing Ceremony. As one of more than 700 organisations who have signed the Charter, we have committed ourselves to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment and meeting the Charter's objectives.

As an organisation that cares for its staff, the HA takes this issue very seriously. In fact, we have continuously taken steps to upgrade our workplace hygiene standards, including:

Regular pest control measures, carpet shampooing and ventilation system cleaning; and

Enhancements to physical workspaces, such as better ventilation.

We also take extra measures during special circumstances, such as the current human swine flu pandemic. For example, lifts are cleaned every day with a diluted bleach solution, and infection-control training courses are organised for both our own staff members and those of our vendors.

While the management's support is essential in achieving this, the staff's participation is no less important. So, let's all remain alert about hygiene, and always keep our workplaces clean!
