  Cluster Structure Review

S ome of you ¡V especially those who are new or relatively new to the HA ¡V may think we have always had seven clusters. In fact, the clustering wasn't formally implemented until 2001, even though we began discussing the concept as early as 1999.

Process
During the past eight years, it has become clear that, although they share some common practices, there are also many variations between the individual clusters. While the clusters were allowed to try out different practices and approaches during the initial phase, the time has now come to review their operations and decide whether these should be made more consistent. In mid-2007, a review panel including external experts was formed to review the cluster structure and find ways to improve patient care and services. The review was completed after many rounds of focus group discussions and individual interviews. The review programme has entered its consultation phase. The HA Board will consider a final proposal on the new cluster structure at a later stage.

For details on the subject, please visit the HA Cluster Structure Review Consultation webpage in the banner section at ha.home.

Our CE, Mr Shane Solomon, has conducted a series of consultation forums in the past few weeks to hear what hospital management and some staff groups think about the proposed cluster structure.
