Q: Please share a remarkable moment you experienced at work.

Dr Jennifer Lui Wai-cheung A: As a rehabilitation clinician, I have witnessed patients fall into the lowest point of their lives as their health and function deteriorate after serious illness. Yet, with the support of the rehabilitation team, they are able to continue moving forward on their life journey, overcome various challenges, and return to their stage of life. These are the remarkable moments we have shared with our patients.

Jacqueline Ng Kwai-king A: Volunteers Mr and Mrs Ho were sick and were both admitted to hospital. Their children were overseas and unable to return to Hong Kong. I accompanied Mrs Ho to discharge and visited her husband with her while he was on his final journey. After his death, I helped Mrs Ho cope with her sorrow, and encouraged her to transform her mourning for her husband into the power of giving as a volunteer. That experience made me understand the diverse nature of my job and inspired me to make it my mission to ignite love and hope in difficult situations.

Dr Henry Wong Man-kin A: As an anaesthesiologist, I am dedicated to improving post-surgical recovery. I established a perioperative medicine clinic, significantly reducing postoperative risks through preoperative optimisation. To enhance recovery after cardiac surgery, I pioneered regional anaesthesia and preoperative exercise training for cardiac surgical patients in Hong Kong. These projects mark the extraordinary moments in my career as an anaesthesiologist.
