Q: Please share a remarkable moment you experienced at work.

Dr Luke Chan Ka-lok A: A leukaemia survivor who recovered a decade ago returned for a follow-up and expressed gratitude to our team for saving his life, saying, “what you have done means a lot to me and my family.” He can now enjoy the sports he loves and has welcomed a new family member! It reminds us of the impact of medical advancements, giving support and hope to patients facing serious illnesses.

Rico Hung Hing-ming A: One evening in April 2024, when I had just finished my clinical duties and prepared to analyse my research data, I received an unexpected email — an invitation to join Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Honour Society with over a century of history. Each year, this prestigious society confers membership only to a select group of individuals whose research has demonstrated significant impact. I am deeply honoured to become the first radiation therapist in Hong Kong to be invited to join Sigma Xi.

Dr Gloria Lam Yan-ting A: It is always unforgettable to witness patients enjoying a new life. There was a lady who had been bedridden for days due to femoral neck fracture. After receiving DAA for hip replacement surgery, she was able to walk freely and discharged the next day. Another patient had given up her beloved interest in singing Chinese Opera for years due to knee pain. Half year after undergoing MIS-OUKA, she returned to the stage. I was very moved by her incredible live performance.
