Colleagues triumphed in ‘10,000 Steps a Day’ to circumnavigate the globe 12 times

The Health Bureau and the Department of Health organised the ‘10,000 Steps a Day’ walking challenge in last November to promote healthy life. We received overwhelming support from the Hospital Authority (HA) colleagues for the campaign. Thanks to the active promotion and support from clusters, a total of 688,000,000 steps were recorded with about 4,600 colleagues participated in the challenge. Taking reference to the rough calculation of the earth’s circumference at about 40,000 kilometres when it takes about 1,400 steps to walk a kilometer, our colleagues had walked 490,000 kilometres, meaning that they had walked around the earth for 12 times!

The active participation of HA colleagues had won the Gold Award in the Outstanding Overall Performance Award for HA. The award presentation has been conducted in February, and the HA Chief Executive Dr Tony Ko, the Head of Human Resources David Mak, as well as the representatives of the top three clusters in terms of the participation rates - Hong Kong West Cluster, New Territories East Cluster and Hong Kong East Cluster have attended the ceremony to share the joy and honour. Let us continue to maintain the healthy habit of walking 10,000 steps a day! Reminder: Remember to redeem your e+Life walking challenge health coins in the eHealth App!
