Planting seeds of kindness
Every step counts

Over the years, the culture of volunteerism has been cultivated in the HA. Colleagues from different clusters have organised a variety of volunteer activities.

The Physiotherapy Department at Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital (PYNEH) has been organising the ‘Nordic Walking Class for Diabetic Patients’ since 2019, which has since extended to other chronic pain patients, encouraging them to control their conditions through exercise. Colleagues have been walking out of the hospital from time to time with other volunteers and participants, enjoying the fun of Nordic walking.

PYNEH Administrative Services Division volunteer team was set up in 2016 to organise different volunteer activities, such as community care, patient visits and ecological conservation, etc., to provide a platform for colleagues to participate in community activities and actively contribute to the society. The volunteer team visited the Ebenezer Care and Attention Home in July this year. They were playing games and chatting with visually impaired elderly, extending the love beyond the hospital.

In order to arouse colleagues’ awareness of environmental protection and promote work-life balance, the Kowloon West Cluster volunteer team has organised mountains and beach clean-up activities at Tai Pai Tsui Pier in Ma Wan, the Little Hawaii Trail in Tseung Kwan O, and the Wilson Trail, etc., showing their love for nature.
