Collective acts of kindness

The Chinese word for volunteering was first seen in oracle bone inscriptions, and is consisted of two Chinese words “sheep” and “me”, which means kindness. It is in this spirit that the Hospital Authority (HA) recently set up a volunteer team with the aim of generating positive energy in the community, helping people in need, and increasing employees’ sense of belonging.

Before the setting up of the team, many volunteer activities have already been organised in different clusters, including countryside clean-ups, caring visits to homes for the elderly, and looking after recovered patients taking part in Transplant Games in Hong Kong, the Mainland, and overseas. Whatever the activity, our volunteers all share the same desire to give selflessly back to society.

Alone, we can make a small difference. Our new volunteer team will harness the collective goodwill of HA colleagues, making a big difference. So, let’s link arms, walk side by side, and be a power for good in our community.
