Medium and long-term goal: Carbon neutrality

To align with the Government’s “Hong Kong’s Climate Action Plan 2050,” the HA has integrated Carbon Neutrality as a target within the “Energy Management” principle of HA’s “Environmental Policy Statement”. The HA will continue to replace aged air conditioning chillers with high energy-efficient chillers in hospitals and buildings, of which 25% have been replaced as at now, and will continue to conduct Retro-Commissioning (RCx) projects and fine-tuning works across hospitals to enhance efficiency. During the RCx process, areas where energy saving can be made are identified and measures are implemented. Furthermore, HA has completed over 30 intelligent LED luminaires projects across hospitals and will initiate another 20 projects in the next two years.
Meanwhile, an intelligent Energy Management Database System (EMDS) has been established to collect and analyse energy usage across hospitals, providing detailed summary reports on energy usage. This helps the HA review timely and improve energy efficiency so that more effective energy management strategies can be adopted.
