Lighting the way to a better tomorrow

The Hospital Authority provides healthcare services around the clock for the people of Hong Kong, it is the extraordinary care and dedication shown by our colleagues in different divisions and disciplines that give our efforts a truly human touch. This year, 22 individuals and seven teams have been awarded our Outstanding Staff & Teams and Young Achievers Award in recognition of their expertise, ingenuity, and compassion.

The winners focus not only on the tasks in hand but also on how they can improve healthcare services for hospitals and patients in future. One team arranges early examinations and microbiology services for patients so they can be diagnosed and treated as early as possible. A specialist actively participates in international medical research to prepare for future outbreaks. Yet another team focuses on providing faster and more efficient organ transplants for patients who are often in life-and-death situations where there is no time to lose.

Their work and their areas of expertise may vary but their goals are the same: To do their utmost for the health and well-being of the patients they care. The power of their achievements is reflected in the firelight on the cover of this edition of HASLink – a beacon that inspires us and fills us with hope for the future.
