The true smart

Technology is changing our lives. Smart devices are all the rage, and healthcare service is also being transformed by the introduction of smart gadgets. In this edition of HASLink, we look at the small devices making a big difference in hospitals, like a head-mounted smart eye and a portable scoliosis scanner. These ingenious inventions make treatment and training more effective and give our medical colleagues the opportunity to dedicate more time to what matters most – their patients. The devices are smart, but our colleagues are smarter still.

To celebrate the approaching Chinese New Year, we invited Dr Sin Ngai-chuen, Hospital Chief Executive of Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital and Tai Po Hospital to create a fai chun for us. Dr Sin is a paediatrician with a particular interest in Chinese calligraphy. We highly recommend preserving Dr Sin’s greeting.

The editorial team of HASLink would like to take this opportunity to wish all of you a happy new year. We hope the Year of the Dragon is overflowing with joy and brimming with ingenious solutions at work!
