Five radiographers from Guangdong Province came to Hong Kong on a knowledge exchange programme in early August, visiting North District Hospital, the Central Government-Aided Emergency Hospital and Tuen Mun Hospital. The visit helped the radiographers gain a deeper understanding on the development of technologies used by radiology departments in Hong Kong public hospitals, including different imagining modalities such as angiograms, computed tomography, and nuclear medicine, etc. Senior Radiographer
Xie Die-lai from the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou was one of them, who has also joined the Mainland Medical Support Team to support Hong Kong in combating the fifth wave of the COVID-19 epidemic. “I had been wondering when I could return to Hong Kong, and when we could exchange more knowledge and views on the medical system in the two places so we could learn from each other.”
Through the current exchange programme, Xie says that he could understand more about Hong Kong. He appreciates the colleagues of the HA for their professionalism and commitment in their work, also the patient-centred care and establishing good relationships with patients are worth learning. He also says that he was impressed by the systematic and scientific management adopted by Hong Kong’s public hospitals.
Dennis Lee, Senior Radiographer of Tuen Mun Hospital says he believes the knowledge exchange programme has helped to facilitate the mutual understanding of the work of radiographers between Hong Kong and the Mainland and hopes there will be more similar exchanges in future.
