New white coat in KWC debuts

Models: Dr Antony Fu (left) and Dr Young Chun-wing (right) The Kowloon West Cluster (KWC) has recently released a new white coat for doctors with a refined sleeve design and increased pocket space to facilitate colleagues and enhance infection control. The new white coats will be put into production and available for KWC colleagues by the end of this year the earliest.

Dr Yuen Man-hon, Associate Consultant of Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (Orthopaedics) at Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) / North Lantau Hospital, one of the designers, mentions that the design of KWC white coat has not been changed for years. However, time has moved on. For example, doctors bring along their iPads during ward rounds and pagers are replaced by smartphones. Hence, a refined white coat is necessary.

Another designer, Olivia Yeung, Physiotherapist I of PMH, had taken references from the white coat design of local and overseas hospitals. She also credited the departments who contributed many suggestions as well. The white coat has undergone several modifications and material selections with ‘XXL’ size added. The two designers have a sense of accomplishment after seeing their colleagues’ excitement.
