Secrets about nursing school

History of Nightingale Road

When QEH was established in 1960, there was a pathway between the hospital and the nursing school. It was officially named ‘Nightingale Road’ by the Lands Department in 2008. The name originates from Florence Nightingale, the Mother of Modern Nursing, who saved lives during the war. As the pathway is located at the hospital area, near the nursing school and the nurses’ dormitory, the name fits perfectly with the environment. Since then, the pathway has become a popular spot for nursing students, and it is always crowded on graduation day.

Priest officiates the school opening ceremony

With the Catholic background, priests officiate the school commencement ceremony on the Feast Day and lead a prayer of thanksgiving for the students of the School of Nursing at CMC each year. At the graduation ceremony and other major events, awards will be presented by priests to the students as encouragement and blessings.

Promotional video for recruitment

The three nursing schools recruit 300 nursing students every year. They will take turns to publicise the recruitment campaign. This year, it is the turn of TMH School of General Nursing to take the lead in filming the promotional video. The video has been praised for its innovative approach, interesting and vivid content of explaining the roles of nurses. Students who wish to become a nurse can enroll on or before July 23.
