Esports – also known as electronic sports – have boomed in popularity in recent years and have gradually been recognised as a sport internationally. With esports, there are no geographical, time, or age boundaries, and you can play at home without breaching any pandemic restrictions. For this year’s inaugural competition, the organiser is considering individual video football matches and team MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena) contests. Preliminary games are expected to be conducted entirely online, while the finals may be held in esports venues or online depending on the pandemic situation at the time.
