SUBCOMMITTEE

Research Subcommittee

The Research Subcommittee aims to promote scientific research and evidence-based practice in mental health. The Subcommittee actively provides supervision to research projects in Castle Peak Hospital (CPH), manages the research information centre, supports community mental health research projects, and develops a network with world-renowned research institutes. It also provides professional support to CPH researchers, and shares research output through a centralised research database.

As at August 2024, CPH has cumulated a research output of 652 research reports / manuscripts / published articles and 538 conference presentations.

Highlights of accomplishments

  • Organises regular workshops. These workshops are conducted by experienced researchers, aiming at promoting evidence-based practice in mental health, enhancing participants’ knowledge and improving their skills in carrying out a research.
  • Develops the database of research conducted / conducting by colleagues of psychiatric service of New Territories West Cluster (NTWC) and uploads the database to the intranet of CPH
  • Coordinates the SPSS web-base access stations in CPH
  • Sets up the “Research Information Centre” at Block S, CPH
  • Sets up the “Research Collection Corner” in the CPH Library
  • Acts as a “clearing house” to assist Hospital Chief Executive to scrutinise the applications of all clinical and drug trials in the psychiatric units of NTWC, and standardise the application and implementation procedures
  • Assists designing questionnaires inquiring the provisions of community residential care for psychiatric patients
