Introduction

• To provide safe and efficient pharmaceutical services of the highest quality to our patients, medical, nursing and other hospital personnel
• To work in collaboration with colleagues from other healthcare professions to ensure and enhance safety and effectiveness in the medication use process
• To support the hospital missions in the delivery of patient care, research and education

Scope of Services

Our pharmacy department is located on G/F, Serene House (Block C) of Castle Peak Hospital, and we are responsible for the dispensing services for Castle Peak Hospital and Siu Lam Hospital patients.

Our Pharmacy department is composed of the following sections, and is responsible for the provision of professional pharmaceutical services, including dispensing and medication consultation to all patients and healthcare professionals.

• Outpatient Pharmacy Service
• Inpatient Pharmacy Service
• Non-sterile Manufacturing Section
• Drug Information Section
• Procurement Section

Outpatient Pharmacy Service:

Scope of Services:

• Tuen Mun Mental Health Centre (TMMHC)
• Discharge and home leave medication
• Ward follow-up case
• Dental Clinic of Department of Health
• Staff Clinic

We also provide drug information consultation or enquiry as appropriate.

Inpatient Pharmacy Service:

• Provide individual patient dispensing service to all clinical wards
• Provide drug information service to all healthcare professionals
• Replenish ward medication stock periodically
• Provide patient educational programme

Non-sterile Manufacturing Section:

• Extemporaneous manufacturing
• Repackaging of medication stocks to wards and satellite pharmacies

Drug Information Section:

• Drug information to all clinicians and other healthcare professionals
• Publication/circulation of drug news or bulletins
• In-service training on drug topics

Procurement Section:

• Procure medications and other pharmaceutical products
• Ensure supply continuity and availability of alternative treatment options when necessary
• Management and provision of medical gases
• Management of drug stores
