6 Post-operative Exercises on Bed

Exercise Instructions

Ankle Pump Exercise

1. Pull your toes up toward your head, then point your toes down.
2. Repeat the motion.

Knee Bend

1. Bend your surgical leg slowly.
2. Keep the heel on bed while sliding.
3. Bend your knee as much as tolerated.

Static Quads

1. Pull the foot back towards you and press the back of the knee down.
2. Tighten the thigh.
3. Hold for 5 seconds.

Bridging

1. Bend your knees.
2. Lift your buttock up.
3. Hold for 5 seconds.

Straight Leg Raises

1. Pull the foot back towards you and press the back of the knee down.
2. Slowly lift your straightened leg up ~1ft.
3. Hold for 5 seconds.

Deep Breathing Exercise

1. Breathe in through your nose. Let your belly fill with air.
2. Hold your breath for 3 seconds.
3. Slowly breathe out through your mouth and tuck your tummy in.
