Patient Self-help Group
The aim of the patient group services is to enhance mutual help among patients and strengthen their coping ability in handling problems caused by the illnesses.
Objectives:
- To promote self-care and self-help concepts on disease management
- To build up the mutual support among patients
- To promote the communication and support among patients and their families
- To facilitate patients and their families acquiring the related knowledge and skills on disease management
- To render psychosocial support to patients and their families
The following are patient self-help groups in Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital:
- COPD patient self-help group
Activities: Health talk, rehabilitation exercise and training, sharing meeting, stress management and recreational activities - Stroke patient support group
Activities: Health check, health talk, sharing meeting and recreational activities - Diabetics patient self-help group
Activities: Exercise and training, interest class, sharing meeting and recreational activities - Chronic Pain patient self-help group
Activities: Health talk, exercise and training, sharing meeting, interest class and recreational activities - Comprehensive Day Rehabilitation Centre (CDRC) patient group
Activities: Health talk, interest class and festival gathering
* Co-organize the Renal patient self-help group
