    There is no adequately documented human poisoning case. The toxicological significance of cardiac glycosides and cyanogenic glycosides present in this plant is not well understood. However, the roots and fruits have been used as fish poison and pesticide.6,7

IDENTIFICATION FEATURES

Shrubs or small trees, 1–10 m tall; many‑branched, with axillary stout thorns. Leaves papery or subleathery; leaf blades 2–8(–11) × 2–4.5(–5.7) cm. Flowers solitary or 2–3 clustered at branches. Corolla bell‑shaped, initially white, later turning pale yellow; corolla-lobes 5, 8–11 × 8–9 mm, spreading. Berries 2–4 cm in diameter, with persistent calyx‑lobes.8
