CUHK One Stop Clinic for Assessment of Risk for Down Syndrome

The Chinese University of Hong Kong provides screening for Down Syndrome and fetal anomaly scan charging private fees. Screening is performed during 11 to 13 weeks of gestation. It measures nuchal translucency, maternal serum level of pregnancy-associated plasma protein-A, and free beta-human chorionic gonadotrophin. The screening will provide figures on the risk of Down syndrome. Report will be available 2 hours after consultation.

Fetal anomaly scan is usually performed during 20 to 22 weeks of gestation. It is able to detect 70% of fetal structural malformations. However, it cannot detect all types of fetal abnormalities, such as Down Syndrome.

To make an appointment or enquiry, please call the Li Ka Shing Obstetrics and Gynaecology specialist clinic at 2632 4219, or visit www.fetalmedicine.org.hk to make an online booking.

Hospital Authority prenatal screening of Down syndrome

The Hospital Authority prenatal screening of Down Syndrome only accepts pregnant women living in the New Territories East Cluster, and those who have made a delivery booking with the Prince of Wales Hospital. Proof of the pregnant womanˇ¦s residential address issued within the past 3 months, such as water or electricity bill or tax notice, is required for appointment booking.

In order to ensure that the screening is performed at the optimal stage of gestation, pregnant women must undergo ultrasound examination first to confirm the expected date of delivery. Due to limited quota, if the stage of gestation is not suitable, no screening will be further arranged.
