About Heart Transplantation Team

Heart Transplantation Team in Hong Kong was established in 1991. In 1992, the first successful heart transplantation was performed in Grantham Hospital. Since then, Grantham Hospital has remained as the tertiary referral center for heart transplantation in the territory. It has evolved now as the center for assessment and management of end stage heart failure patients referred from both public and private sectors to be considered for potential heart transplantation.

Based on a multidisciplinary approach, we are committed to provide specialized holistic care to stabilize and control symptoms and to improve the quality of life of advanced heart failure patients and post heart transplant patients. With the relocation of Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery to Queen Mary Hospital in July of 2008, Grantham Hospital works collaboratively with the surgical team to provide care to the heart transplant recipients in the continuum of pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative transplant care.

As of 30 June 2019, a total of 213 heart transplantation was performed.

And the 1 year, 5 year and 10 year recipient’s survived rate was 85.6%, 78.6% and 66.1% respectively.

關於心臟移植小組

香港的心臟移植小組成立於一九九一年。而本港首宗心臟移植則於一九九二年在葛量洪醫院成功施行。此後，葛量洪醫院成為本港唯一的心臟移植轉介中心，為全港公私營醫院及診所轉介的晚期心臟衰竭病人進行心臟移植評估及治療。
從二零零八年七月起，心胸外科部由葛量洪醫院遷往瑪麗醫院，而心臟移植手術亦在該院施行。 而手術後之護理、復康療程、定期檢查及覆診等則由葛量洪醫院心臟內科之醫護人員跟進。 兩院緊密合作，為心臟移植病人提供術前和術後的護理， 心臟移植團隊不斷為有需要考慮心臟移植以及已接受心臟移植的病人提供全面的專科醫護服務， 以求穩定及控制患者病情及改善其生活質素。

截至二零一九年六月三十日， 共有213人接受了心臟移植。

而一年、五年和十年的病人存活率分別為85.6%，78.6% 和 66.1%。
