Invitation of Abstract

Your experience or research findings will provide valuable insight that can inspire innovative ideas to other participants. In line with the Convention's main focus, we sincerely invite submission of free papers on the following areas:

  • Better Manage Growing Demands
  • Staff Engagement and Empowerment
  • Clinical Safety and Quality Service I (projects aiming to improve efficiency and effectiveness of care delivery to meet international standards)
  • Clinical Safety and Quality Service II (projects aiming to enhance clinical safety and outcomes/clinical governance)
  • Healthcare Advances, Research and Innovations
  • Enhancing Partnership with Patients and Community
  • Committed and Happy Staff
  • Any topics from young HA Investigators (for staff who have joined HA for 15 years or less)

Papers on other topical issues will also be considered.
Papers will be selected for oral presentation at the Service Enhancement Presentation sessions, speed presentations and poster displays during the Convention. Winners for the Best Oral Presentation and Best Poster Presentation will be selected and awarded. Please submit your free paper on-line by clicking the following links:

Selection Criteria

Please note that abstracts submitted will be selected for oral presentation, speed presentation and/or poster display with reference to the following criteria:

  • Relevance of the objectives to the HA's core values/category
  • Applicability of the programme
  • Robustness of the methodology and conclusion
  • Clinical and/or service enhancement
  • Originality/creativity

Guidelines on Preparation of Abstracts

For uniformity, abstracts selected for oral, speed or poster presentation will be printed in the format as per sample (please click here to view the sample on-line or download it at the following link):

The content of the abstract should be grouped under the following sections:

  • Introduction
  • Objectives
  • Methodology
  • Results and Outcomes

Please type the content under each section in the on-line abstract submission form. The total number of words of the abstract should not exceed 400 (including abstract title and name of author(s)). English style spelling is recommended. Authors should type their initials and last name, but not degrees, titles, or institutional appointments. The name(s) of the institution(s) where the work was carried out should follow the list of authors and correspondingly indexed.

First word and all major words (nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs and pronouns) of the title should be capitalised, e.g. "Major Trauma in Elderly Patients in Hong Kong".

Standard abbreviations should be used. Special or unusual abbreviation should be in parentheses after the term when it appears for the first time. Symbols should NOT be used.

Tables and graphs are NOT allowed for inclusion in the submission.

Please note that abstracts may be rejected for publication if not conforming to the standard format. The Organising Committee reserves the right for the final editing of the abstracts.

All abstracts will be posted in the Hospital Authority Convention Electronic Proceedings and the Continuous Quality Improvement Initiatives System (CQIs) platform after HA Convention.

The Abstract Submitter should warrant that all the information and content provided to Hospital Authority Convention 2017 and the Hospital Authority (Hereafter: “The HA”) does not infringe any third party rights including, but not limited to, intellectual property rights.

The Abstract Submitter grants the HA a royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable nonexclusive license to use, reproduce, publish, translate, distribute, and display the Content.
