Teens explored unique summer hospital experience

Hospitals were filled with tons of joy this summer! Various hospital volunteer programmes gave aspiring students access to a variety of healthcare services.

The ‘Mini Olympics’ hosted by about 20 student volunteers was held at Cheshire Home, Shatin! Patients demonstrated sporting talent and spirit in basketball shooting, hand-cycling and bowling events and more, filling the hospital with applause and cheerful joy.

Musical flash mob wowed patients

A band made up of around 10 student volunteers and chronic patients surprised patients in paediatrics and orthopaedics wards at Prince of Wales Hospital with musical flash mob. They sang with self-accompaniment on different instruments and cheered patients up.

Paint and heal

North Lantau Hospital and community organisations co-organised DIY Rehabilitation Programme to cultivate and foster a caring atmosphere for patients with rehabilitation needs. 40 teenagers and rehabilitation patients shared ideas and worked together to beautify rehabilitation equipment. This programme provided a platform for teenagers to build up their talent and potential while at the same time benefiting patients’ rehabilitation journey.

From Accident & Emergency Department to Mortuary, from Infectious Disease Centre to Information Technology and Health Informatics Division, 42 students progressing to Secondary four experienced what it was really like at 12 departments in five hospitals during HA Summer Programme which is organised by HA Head Office for the first time.
