  Teamwork: key to the success of QMH Accreditation
 

On 15 March, Queen Mary Hospital announced its award of full accreditation by the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards. Among 11 award nominations, it won the outstanding achievement for pressure ulcer prevention and management to minimise incidence and impact.

Ms Pearl Chan, Senior Nursing Officer of Queen Mary Hospital, said: "The purpose of certification is to place Hong Kong's medical system on the international map, in addition to improving pressure ulcer prevention and patient care services." She appreciates the collaboration and contribution of all hospital staff, including doctors, front-line staff and nurses, resulting in the success of this accreditation.

Ms Lee Wai-kuen, Nurse Specialist of Queen Mary Hospital, said: "Pressure ulcer prevention and management involves hospitals and the community. The scope of work includes condition assessment and providing training for nurses in the hospitals, community care centres and patients' families to facilitate effective recovery."

The next step is to organise relevant training courses for all cluster hospitals, while promoting consistent, positive and pragmatic health care system.
