In-patient Information

Admission Procedures

Castle Peak Hospital (CPH) is a psychiatric hospital providing general psychiatric admissions for the residents of New Territories West Cluster. The majority of admission to CPH is arranged under the Mental Health Ordinance. Admission is mainly through:

  • Mental Health Out-patient Service
  • Accident & Emergency (A&E) Service

Apart from the legal forms related to the Mental Health Ordinance, patients should provide relevant identification documents on admission:

  • Valid travelling document (if necessary)
Child (under 11 years of age) of a H.K.I.D. Card Holder
  • Birth Certificate with father / mother's name
  • H.K.I.D. Card from father or mother
    Valid travelling document (if necessary)
Hospital Authority Staff (serving / retired) or his dependent
  • H.K.I.D. Card
Civil Servant / Pensioner or his dependent
  • T.R.Y. 447 / Pensioner Card
  • H.K.I.D. Card
Public Assistance Receiver
  • Public Assistance Certificate
  • H.K.I.D. Card

Information on Admission

  • Patients should not bring in the following items during hospitalisation:
    • Valuable items: large amount of cash, jewellery etc.
    • Potential dangerous articles: glass, sharp objects, strings, drugs, matches, lighters etc.
  • For admission under the Mental Health Ordinance, patients should not leave the ward without prior approval from hospital.
  • The operation of some medical instruments and equipment may be affected by signals emitted from mobile phones. Please turn off the mobile phones inside wards and designated areas.
  • Smoking is strictly prohibited in the hospital compound.
  • To avoid causing disturbance to others, no photography is allowed inside the wards.
  • Offering advantage to hospital staff is strictly forbidden.

Visiting Information

Visiting Hours

  • A maximum of 2 visitors are allowed for each visit;
  • Video recording, audio recording or photography is not allowed inside hospital area;
  • Do not give drugs, cigarettes, lighters, alcohol and dangerous objects to patient;
  • Do not pass any document to patients for signature without doctors' permission;
  • Please contact ward staff to discuss about the patient's condition or arrange an appointment with the Case Medical Officer;
  • Please inform ward staff for arrangement if visitors bring along with children under the age of 12;
  • Please abide by the instructions of the hospital infection control measures;
  • Smoking is strictly prohibited in the hospital compound.

Discharge

Transfer procedures

Hospital Authority provides services through hospital clusters. Patients will be transferred from psychiatric hospitals to general or convalescent hospitals for continuous treatment in accord with their conditions and needs.

Discharge procedures

Please contact hospital ward staff or nurse for discharge procedures.

Patients with financial difficulties may contact medical social worker through ward nurse for financial assistance.
